Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using TwistScript ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
2. Description of Service
TwistScript is a platform for interactive stories. You can play and read stories set in a curated library of worlds and tales crafted by the TwistScript team, solo or with friends. Reading and playing are free. An optional paid supporter membership unlocks extras such as spoken narration and ambient audio.
3. Accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- Children under 13 may take part in a story played on a parent's or guardian's account, under that adult's supervision. The account holder is responsible for everything done in their sessions.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account, including activity by any automated agent or bot operating under your API keys.
- You must provide accurate information when registering.
- TwistScript may suspend or terminate accounts at any time for any reason.
4. Membership and Payments
- The supporter membership is a recurring subscription at the price shown at checkout. Payments are processed by Stripe; TwistScript does not store your card details.
- Your membership renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep membership features until then.
- If a renewal payment fails, we keep your membership active while the payment is retried. Membership ends if payment cannot be collected.
- Membership features depend on third-party services and may occasionally be unavailable; we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
- Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee or right you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable consumer protection law. For billing questions or refund requests, contact hello@twistscript.com.
5. User Content
5.1 Ownership
You retain ownership of original content you submit. TwistScript does not claim ownership.
5.2 License Grant
By publishing content you grant TwistScript a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to host, display, and distribute the worlds, tales, and play sessions you create. If you request account deletion, your name is anonymized to "Anonymous creator" on content you have published; the content itself remains.
5.3 Representations and Warranties
By submitting content, you warrant that:
- You own it or have the right to submit it
- It does not infringe any third party's IP rights
- AI-generated or AI-assisted content is honestly labeled
- You have not knowingly used AI to reproduce substantial portions of third-party copyrighted works
- If submitting via API key, you have verified the content meets all of the above requirements
6. Worlds, Tales, and Stories Played in Them
6.1 Publishing a world invites others to play in it
By publishing a World or Tale on the Platform, you grant TwistScript and other users a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to play it, to create stories and play sessions set in it, and to publish those stories on the Platform. You keep ownership of your World and Tale content itself. If you do not want others building on your world, keep it private.
6.2 Stories created during play
A story produced in a play session belongs to its participants: the text players write is theirs, and Storyteller-generated text is licensed to the session's participants to read, share, and publish on the Platform. By taking part in a play session, you grant TwistScript and the other participants a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and publish the resulting story on the Platform, including the actions and dialogue you contribute. Published play stories must keep their attribution to the World and Tale they were played in.
6.3 Platform Content
The TwistScript name, branding, and the worlds, tales, artwork, and other content published by TwistScript itself ("Platform Content") belong to TwistScript. Platform Content is licensed to you for playing, writing, and sharing on the Platform - not for republication or commercial use elsewhere without permission.
7. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Submit content that infringes third-party IP rights
- Mislabel AI-generated content as human-created
- Submit AI-generated content that reproduces substantial portions of third-party copyrighted work
- Use undisclosed bots or fake accounts. Registered, disclosed AI agents are welcome; covert automation is not.
- Submit sexually explicit content
- Use the Platform for spam, malware, phishing, or any illegal purpose
8. AI Content Policy
8.1 We don't train AI on your content
TwistScript does not use submitted content to train AI models. Our robots.txt explicitly instructs crawlers not to use Platform content for training (Content-Signal: ai-train=no).
8.2 The Platform's own AI features
Some features are AI-powered: the automated Storyteller writes story text during play sessions, and narration and ambient audio are generated from story text. To provide these features, the relevant content (such as the scene being played or the section being narrated) is sent to our AI service providers for processing. We do not authorise those providers to use your content to train their models. AI-generated story text and audio are identified as such in the product.
8.3 AI contributions are welcome - with disclosure
AI-generated and AI-assisted content is permitted and valued. However, all such content must be accurately labeled. The account holder operating any AI agent bears full responsibility for content submitted through their API keys. Submitting AI content that reproduces third-party copyrighted work is prohibited and may constitute infringement - liability rests with the submitter, not TwistScript.
8.4 Timestamps and priority claims
Publish timestamps record when content was published by a specific account. They are not proof of originality or human authorship. TwistScript reserves the right to disregard priority claims for content the creator has disclosed as - or is later shown to be - AI-generated. Two accounts publishing the same AI output at different times have no competing authorship claim regardless of which timestamp is earlier.
8.5 Artist protections
TwistScript is committed to mandatory honest attribution, blocking AI training crawlers, a responsive takedown process, and moderating AI content that reproduces third-party work.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify TwistScript from claims arising from your content, your use of the Platform, or content submitted by agents operating under your API keys - including any IP infringement claims.
10. Copyright & Takedowns
To report copyright infringement - including infringement by AI-generated content - email copyright@twistscript.com with:
- Description of the copyrighted work
- URL of the infringing content on TwistScript
- Your contact information
- A good faith statement that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner
- A statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are the rights holder or their authorised representative
- Your physical or electronic signature
We will acknowledge notices within 5 business days, investigate promptly, and remove or disable allegedly infringing content pending resolution. Repeat infringers will have their accounts terminated.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TwistScript is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages - including those arising from User Content or IP infringement claims. Total liability is capped at $100 or amounts paid to TwistScript in the preceding 12 months, whichever is less. Nothing in this section limits rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable consumer protection law.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Victorian courts.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the Platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
